We have very quickly come to the end of our term and what a term it has been!
It has been very busy with the wonderful return of families to events and special occasions over the past few weeks. Just a few of these have been our Sausage Sizzle for St Joseph’s Feast Day, Harmony Week, Project Compassion Out of Uniform Day, Easter Hat Parade, Holy Week, Infants Dance Showcase as well as our Prayer Services on Fridays. We are very much looking forward to more wonderful sharing with families next term, including some great P&F initiatives.
We would like to ask for some feedback from you around some of the things that have been happening this term, with a short survey. Your feedback assists us in planning forward for the rest of the year. If you are able, could you take a couple of minutes to complete it via the link below.
We wish you a Holy Easter season, safe holidays and we look forward to seeing you next term.
A reminder that tomorrow (Friday) is a Pupil Free Day and we will not have staff onsite for child minding.

A big thank you to our Parish Priests; Father Paul, Father Roland and Father Prodencio and our Year 4 Teachers who have done an excellent job preparing our students for this Sacrament.
Also to our Year 5 students who have led our Holy Week celebrations this week. You made us very proud.
Learning Together
What an amazing week it has been. It has been a privilege to watch our students celebrate the end of term with so many wonderful experiences. Having our parent community back onsite and celebrating with us has been a significant moment. I want to take this opportunity to thank our students and parents for a wonderful start to the 2022 school year. I would also like to acknowledge the amazing learning environment and rich experiences created by our Teachers and Educational Assistants every day for each and every child who walks through our gates.
I wish you all a very safe and restful holiday time with your family and friends. Take time to enjoy what is most important - your family. I look forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday 26th April.
St Agnes' Catholic Parish Stations of the Cross
This year the Stations of the Cross will be held in St Agnes' Catholic Church on Good Friday at 10:00 am. This "visual justice meditation" will use images around themes that challenge us, the Church, today. Music and symbolic actions will accompany the 14 scriptural stations as suggested by Pope John Paul II in 1991.

The Parent & Friends (P&F) Committee are hosting a fundraising Mother’s Day Breakfast for our special Mothers and female role models. This will be held on Friday 6th May from 7:30am. Areas to sit down to enjoy your breakfast with your family will be available in several places in the School. We hope you will share this memorable experience with us whilst enjoying a yummy breakfast before school and work.
Below is a pre-order form for your family which will need to be completed and returned to the office in an envelope marked “Mother’s Day Breakfast” with the correct money enclosed, before Friday 29th April. No orders will be able to be filled after this date. Please feel free to invite all family members including Mothers, Grandmothers and Aunties – and remember to order their breakfast on the form below also.
To help ensure our Mums can fully enjoy their experience, we are asking for Dads and friends to lend a hand in hosting this event. If you are available to help please include your details on the below form. Please note that all volunteers will be required to provide their proof of double vaccination and Volunteers WWCC to the school by Thursday 5th May.
We need tablecloths! If you have a tablecloth we could borrow for our special event, could you please drop these off to the Office Aunties prior to Thursday 5th May. Don’t forget to make sure it has your name on it so that we can return it to you after the event.
Thank you!

Project Compassion
Last week students chose to come dressed out of uniform and make a donation to Project Compassion. The donations that we collected can help vulnerable communities around the world to improve access to food and clean water and support education and skills training. St Joseph's collected an amazing $707.10 towards Caritas.
We thank everyone for donating to Project Compassion this Lent.
A couple of weeks ago we celebrated Harmony Week as a school community. As part of the Year 6 Media and Publishing team we created a video to share with our St Joseph's parents and carers. We recognise that Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values. We thoroughly enjoyed sharing the many cultures that make up St Joseph's and hope you enjoy this video.

PSSA Swimming
On Monday, Zoe Lawrence represented Polding at the NSW State PSSA swimming carnival in Sydney. Zoe came 20th in her age bracket in the backstroke race. 20th in the State for a young lady who has been swimming competitively for only five months! This is an outstanding achievement and we look forward to all of Zoe’s future accomplishments. For more information, keep an eye out on our St Joseph’s Facebook page for our first Student-Athlete Interview, featuring Zoe.
AFL
Polding Australian Football (AFL) trials were held in Newcastle on Tuesday. Lismore Diocese had 11 boys attend this selection trial. Our manager tells me the Lismore boys all played and represented the Diocese well and showed their skills and talent on the field.
Congratulations to Xavier Mat who was selected in the Polding AFL team to play in a NSW State PSSA carnival later this year.

In Year 1 we have been mastering our numeracy skills in Mathematics. This term we have been using the app SeeSaw to share our learning with Year 1 families. Students completed mathematical investigations about length on the Ipads, recorded their thinking and then shared their tasks in a digital format.
