School Status for tomorrow - Open with Supervision 2021-03-2...
23 Mar 2021
Each day we will update you on the current status of the school, responding to the latest advice and information. St Joseph’s Primary, Port Macquarie, will be open for supervision tomorrow, Wednesday 24th March 2021. This decision is taken in response to the continuing nature of the predicted weather conditions, and the current advice to minimise travel at this time to allow emergency services to focus on areas of most need.
We are here for those needing to work, assess damage, clean up and have children in a familiar environment. We reassure you that our staff are ready and prepared to support your family and be mindful of your children’s wellbeing at this time.
The canteen will be open with best efforts to fulfil orders and alternatives offered. Should you be unable to access flexischools online, students can come to the canteen before school.
Busways advise on their website that due to current flood related road closures school buses will not operate until further notice, so parent/carer transport is the most likely option currently. As the situation progresses tomorrow, we will communicate with our families with regards to the status of our site for the remainder of the week.
We encourage all members of our community to follow the warnings and advice of the emergency services during this time and please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all and those members of our broader community affected.
St Agnes’ Parish have systems in place to assist those affected by the flooding in many ways, so if you are affected please contact them at the Parish Administration Centre on 65 887 444 or by email communications@stagnesparish.org.au. If you are having trouble with access, please contact the school any way possible with the addition of the following number if needed - 0436 812 113.
You may also be eligible to have access to disaster assistance through the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) of $1000 per adult and $400 per child. Please see the link https://www.disasterassist.gov.au/Pages/disasters/current-disasters/New-South-Wales/storms-floods-10-March-2021-onwards.aspx .
We will also work with the Parish in the coming week on a coordinated response to ways in which those of us not affected can support our community, as we learn more about what is practically needed. Thank you for your words of encouragement and support, it is greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
