Website and Values Launch Night
It was wonderful to have families gather with our staff on Wednesday night for the launch of a number of initiatives that we have been working on across 2021-2022 to meet school improvement goals. Our renewed Values, website and Joey's Jottings newsletter were on display throughout the night and areas for us to seek your feedback and have conversations with our staff about what you wanted to learn more about. These included our School Strategic and Improvement Plans for 2023 and beyond, our Values, website and newsletter.
We would like to thank our staff who set up, developed and facilitated the evening, our Year 6 students who lead games and activities for the children and of course our families who came to share the night with us. If you were unable to attend and would like to share with us what you have seen in the changes, please let us know.
As our website and newsletter are our major communication platforms, it is important that you visit these places for information that is updated and shared. Please consider subscribing to our newsletter if you haven’t already to ensure you don’t miss out each week on what matters in our school communication.
Mini Vinnies Hand Heart and Hands in Action
On Monday the Mini Vinnies team hosted a Socktober fair to raise money for Ethiopia - a place where there isn’t much of anything. There was an obstacle course, Pin the Tail on the Joey game, throw a wet sponge at a teacher's face, an art and craft stall, just to name a few. All using our head, heart and hands to raise $541.70.

Year 4 Sparking the Flame
On Wednesday our Year 4 students visited the Youth Hub to learn about the importance of friendship through our Faith based day - Accendere. Be sure to check out next week's newsletter for photos and our student's recap of the day.
As the year continues to swiftly go by, we would be very aware while out and about that Christmas is coming quickly too! As we start to think about what the Christmas season means for us personally, we also as a school and Parish community consider what this is like for those who are not fortunate enough to have what they need, nevertheless have enough to celebrate as others of us might. A beautiful St Agnes’ Parish tradition is to provide hampers for those in our school and Parish community who otherwise would not have a Merry Christmas.
This year, our Parish schools again support those families in need, through donating items to the St Agnes’ Parish Hamper Appeal. Please check your children’s bags next week for a paper note that has items to donate to each classes basket. We have specific needs to fill each hamper and would appreciate your assistance to have them filled with those items. If you feel you can donate more, there are further ideas on the note or you can speak to your child’s teacher. We will not ask too much of any family, but together, we will be able to gather it and fill the hearts and homes of needy families.
Thank you for your kind support.
Types of friends is the focus in Peer Support this week with children exploring what encourages them to form friendships with different people (common interests, admirable qualities etc). Children identified that their friends can fall into the categories of ‘best friends’, ‘friends’ and ‘people we know’. Children also discussed the fact that friendships can change over time for various reasons.
Discuss with your child the different friends they have in their lives and how friendships may change. Some friends may be more important at different times in their lives.
Thank you for your support of our Peer Support program.
In Science this term, we received a special letter from Santa requesting that Kindergarten help him design some toys that move. Kindergarten students have been working hard to investigate how things move. We look forward to designing our toys and then creating a prototype to send to Santa in time for the Elves to build them.
Summer Sports Trials
On Monday several of our Year 4 and Year 5 students trialled for Zone Basketball and Touch Football. Our students competed and trialled hard against some very fierce competition. Congratulations to the following students who were selected to attend Diocesan Trials in Lismore on Friday 25th November.

Rugby League - Learn to Play
This week we welcomed Maxwell Bear, our local NRL development officer, who is running a three week ‘Ready to Play’ program with our Kinder to Year 4 students.
The program is a non-contact skill-based participation program that provides the perfect introduction to Rugby League for Primary school students. The action packed program ensures all participants are highly engaged and finish each session sweating and smiling.
So far our students seem to be having a great time!
Student Spotlight
We are excited to share the news that Ariannah Beard won a gold medal at the State Championships in Gymnastics. She scored her personal best score of 9.266! Well done Ariannah, all of us at school are super proud of you!
