Celebrating a Sacred Milestone: Congratulations to our First Holy Communion Candidates
The journey towards First Holy Communion is a sacred and transformative one, marked by moments of prayer, reflection, and spiritual growth. From the very beginning of their preparation, along with their Year 4 classmates, our candidates have embarked on a journey of faith - a journey that has deepened their understanding of the Eucharist and strengthened their relationship with Jesus Christ.
We congratulate our Candidates.

Hastings Region Catholic Schools Music Program
If your child has brought home an instrument please encourage them to find a space to set it up and have it ready to play when they walk past. Just 5 to10 minutes is all that is needed to spend at this stage of their journey. Please remind students that instruments are not to be shared with siblings or other family members wanting to have a try to avoid any damages by others. Please take the time to read and sign your instrument care and rental agreement that has been placed in their folder. Perhaps this can be read out loud to your child as part of their music home learning this week.
There may be upcoming opportunities for music students to bring their instrument to school for some 'jam sessions’ for extra individual practice time. More information will be sent out regarding this.
Vacancies are still available in the trumpet, clarinet and flute program. All other programs are currently full.
Please contact Amanda O'Brien at Little Muzo's on 0412607877 or email amanda@littlemuzos.com.au for any questions or assistance regarding your child's music lessons.
Hometime Arrangements and Messages - How am I getting home?
To alleviate any stress or worry for your child we encourage you to discuss your child’s travel arrangements with them each day (particularly if it changes).
If there is a change to your child's home time travel arrangements please let your child know before they leave the house or write a note to your child's teacher. Some parents also write a "H" (home lines) or a "B" (bus lines) on their child's hand. Home Time Routine Bag Tags may also be helpful in managing travel arrangements (please speak to the Office Aunties if you are interested in purchasing some).
We understand that plans may change during the day and ask that you phone the Office Aunties on 6583 3848 between the hours of 8:30am and 2:30pm if this is the case. This enables us to ensure that your child gets the message in a timely manner. Please DO NOT email the school or message your child's teacher directly as it may not be seen in the timeframe you require.
If an emergency occurs or there is a late change to your child's home time plan we will do everything we can to get the message to your child after 2:30pm. Please be aware that a school bell sounds at 3:00pm for classes to prepare to leave the class for hometime at 3:10pm which makes it difficult to guarantee that a message will get to your child.
Thank you for your support in making sure everyone gets home safely.
Volunteer Opportunities St Agnes' Parish
Did you know we have around 50 different types of volunteering opportunities in our Parish? Every day of the week, 52 weeks of the year, volunteers give generously to others, using their skills and talents to make a difference, helping people of all ages in a multitude of ways.
Our Parish Vision and Mission statements clearly call us to fulfil our baptismal call and actively engage in discipleship that draws us ever closer to God.
Through volunteering in the many areas of service and ministry in our Parish we are supporting one another, nurturing faith, proclaiming the Good News, evangelising, sharing, celebrating, reaching out and giving of ourselves.
We invite everyone to consider volunteering in an area of interest where people can benefit from your sharing of skills, talents and kindliness and experience the joy of receiving.
See our updated list of ministry and service opportunities for more details and complete the expression of interest section if you would like to join our volunteer collective (copies available at the Pastoral Office or click on the image below). Existing volunteers are welcome to seek new or different opportunities if desired.

Attending School Regularly Helps Children
Make getting students to school on time every day a top priority
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Ensuring that students arrive at school on time every day is crucial for their academic success and wellbeing. Parents play a crucial role in instilling the importance of punctuality in their children. Here are some strategies for parents to make getting students to school on time every day a top priority:
- Establish a Consistent Routine. Set a daily routine that includes specific times for waking up, getting ready, having breakfast, and leaving for school. Consistency helps children develop good habits.
- Model Punctuality. Children often learn by example. Demonstrate the importance of punctuality by being on time for family events, appointments, and other commitments.
- Limit or Have No Screen Time in the Morning. Minimise distractions such as excessive screen time in the morning. This helps your child stay focused on getting ready for school without unnecessary delays.

Parent Assembly Conference
Turning in to Kids Program
The Family, Children, and Youth Pathways team at St Agnes' Care and Lifestyle are pleased to announce they are resuming face to face group delivery of the popular Tuning in to Kids program for parents. The program can help parents to teach their child the skills of emotional intelligence. Emotional Intelligence is about using your emotions to guide you through the world. It is about being able to use your knowledge of emotions to make decisions, to calm yourself down, to manage anger and conflict, to help you in your relationships with people, to understand what is happening in social situations, and to assist you in any aspects of life that involves you and another person.
In Mathematics Year 2 are learning to collect and organise data. The children had to make a tower or pattern and then show how they could represent the data of colour or shape in their creation.
The 2024 A4Art Prize has once again sparked a surge of creativity across our 6 St Agnes’ Parish Schools, with over 480 participants:
- representing more than 10% of the student body; and
- contributing to the event, marking yet another year of growth.
The calibre of artworks in this year’s competition is truly outstanding. There are a diverse array of genres, from painting and drawing, to origami, digital art and 3D works, each accompanied by thoughtful artist statements. It's remarkable to see such a wide range of creativity stemming from a humble A4 sheet of paper.
After careful consideration by expert judges, 143 finalists were chosen across 14 categories spanning from Kindergarten to Year 12, along with a special category for St Agnes’ Education Staff. This number includes artworks that have also been chosen as Packing Room Finalists, a category created to highlight outstanding pieces that may not have made it to the finalist stage but were recognized by the Creative Arts Nest Team.
The A4Art Pop-Up Exhibition here at Joey's this week was filled with enthusiasm from all the students and staff who visited the display ready to judge the art and vote for their favourite. A busy 2 days with lots of talks and discussions about the artworks, art in general and lots of other interesting topics.
