As we reach the end of Term 1 and approach the Easter season, we want to take a moment to reflect on the growth and achievements we've experienced together so far this year. It has been a time of hard work, new challenges, and meaningful connections, and we are incredibly proud of the efforts of our entire school community.
During this term, we have witnessed our students embrace learning with enthusiasm, showing resilience and determination in everything from their studies to extracurricular activities. We would like to thank our teachers for their dedication and commitment to fostering an environment where learning can flourish.
Year 6 Camp
Our Year 6 students had an unforgettable experience at their camp this term. From team-building activities to outdoor adventures, they embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and courage. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to bond, build resilience, and develop new skills in a supportive environment.
Sacramental Program and Reconciliation
Students from our Year 4, 5 and 6 cohorts, made their first Sacrament of Reconciliation in Week 8 at St Agnes' Church. All candidates were well prepared by the Year 4 Team, led by Mrs Rennes. They learned about God’s mercy and never ending love for us, the importance of stopping and reflecting on our actions and words, confessing and absolution of sin. We look forward to continuing our Sacramental journey into Term 2, with First Holy Communion.
St Joseph’s Feast Day and Caritas Walk for Water Fundraiser
On our St Joseph's Feast Day students learned about St Joseph in class and participated in the Walk for Water Challenge to raise funds for communities in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific facing water access challenges. The students, staff, and parents united by walking with buckets to symbolize the daily struggles of collecting water. The event raised over $800 for Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, reflecting our school’s commitment to community and helping those in need.
Learning Conversations
Thank you to all our families who participated in the Learning Conversations this term. These conversations are a vital part of our partnership in supporting each child's growth. It was heartening to see the positive and open exchanges between parents, students, and teachers as we continue to work together to help every student thrive.
Harmony Day Celebrations
Our Harmony Day celebrations were a beautiful expression of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. It was wonderful to see students and staff come together to celebrate different cultures through music, food, and activities. The day reminded us all of the importance of respect, understanding, and unity in our community.
Easter Hat Parade
On Wednesday morning, St Joseph’s Primary School was filled with excitement as the annual Easter Hat Parade took place. After enjoying a coffee and hot cross bun at Wednesday's Done Right cafe, students, parents, and teachers gathered to celebrate with an array of imaginative, colorful hats. We were grateful to welcome the preschool students and staff from Joey’s House to be a part of the fun! The children proudly showcased their headwear, bringing smiles and cheers from the crowd. With music playing and laughter in the air, it was a fun-filled morning that highlighted the students' artistic flair and brought the school community together in the spirit of Easter.

As we head into the Easter season, it is a time for renewal and reflection. Easter is a time for hope, compassion, and new beginnings - values that resonate deeply within our school community. We encourage all of you to take this opportunity to spend time with loved ones, reflect on your personal growth, and recharge for the term ahead.
We wish each of you a peaceful and joyous Easter break. May it bring rest, happiness, and a renewed sense of purpose as we continue our journey together.

Parish Education Council
St Agnes’ Catholic Parish has a Parish Education Council, whose role is to assist and advise the Parish Priest on educational and developmental matters related to the general management of our Early Education Centres and Primary and Secondary schools.
This Council is made up of a number of members, which includes Priest/s, staff members, school principals and parent representatives.
The Council is seeking an expression of interest from any parent interested in participating in this endeavour.
Your commitment would involve attending meetings during the business day. These are held twice per term, with a maximum duration of two hours.
Your expression of interest, outlining your background, etc, should be sent to the Secretary of the Council. Applicants progressing for consideration by the Council will then be invited to meet with the Chairperson and Parish Priest.
Your enquiries can be directed to the Secretary, Lily Rogerson, by email to:
lily.rogerson@lism.catholic.edu.au
We look forward to hearing from any interested parents.
