I would like to acknowledge a few things in the wrap up of Term 1 2021.
- We have been so impressed and proud of our students in the way they settled into the school year and we have already seen some wonderful growth in their learning, resilience and conduct.
- The way in which our families have worked with us in Term 1 with some COVID-19 guideline changes. We are now quite used to receiving updates and managing them according to our ability to make sense and act.
- The way in which our staff have worked to support families across the term, including the ever important pastoral care and wellbeing part of every day.
In particular, I need to again thank each and every family in our community for the way you have supported each other in the past few weeks when life again has taken a turn that has affected many. Your generosity in donating to the school this week and the Parish so that we can do good for those needing our help is humbling. Mrs Ucdereli and I had the pleasure of delivering two cars full of food items for the St Agnes' Food Pantry today. We know this will be appreciated by the many who will benefit. Some staff and families in our community have been cleaning up with others to try and restore their homes to the way they should be. I have never been prouder to lead a school community than times like these. Thank you and well done!
Please remember that we are here for you in whatever way we can assist. Visit St Agnes' Parish website for details of ways to assist or seek assistance - https://stagnesparish.org.au/
Also please let us know over the holidays if there is anything urgent you need so we can direct help to you. While school is closed, you can send a message to one of our school phones where someone can respond within 24 hours - 0436 812 113.
Once again, enjoy our silly little video acknowledging the super heroes who are out there saving our community right now. We can be heroes, even just for one day!
Wishing you a safe and Holy Easter.

Responding to the Flood
As a staff member impacted by the floods on the Northshore, it has been really moving to see the response of not only the broader community, but in particular our children who attend St Joseph’s. I have personally witnessed school children registered as volunteers to help in response to the flood. It is a reminder to us all of how blessed we are to have a great school community and amazing children who are willing to lend themselves to serve others in need. Well done children!

Child Safety
This week I would like to share with you the Annual Child Safety Handbook. This resource is a wealth of proactive and preventative measures to keep our youngest and most vulnerable members of our community healthy and safe at school and at home, with family members and with friends, while on the street and online, during outdoor play and natural emergencies. The handbook is available through the following website http://nsw.childsafetyhub.com.au/downloads/.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for a wonderful Term 1. Our students have engaged in a number of exciting learning experiences throughout the term which have been wonderful to witness. We look forward to Term 2 and all that it brings for our community. Stay safe and enjoy spending time with family and friends during the Easter break.

Alison Lester’s classic book comes to life on stage in a wonderful world of text, song, light, shadow and movement. From the team behind The Gruffalo and The 13-, 26-, 52-, 78- and 91-Storey Treehouses, this new Australian adaptation from multi-award winning playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer is a celebration of the power of the imagination and the differences that make every child special.
Yours in Creative and Performing Arts.

Positive Behaviour Reward Play - For Individuals
At St Joseph’s we have reward play for individuals as a way to acknowledge students who continually make positive choices and demonstrate exemplary behaviour. Students who have not had ‘Reflection Time’ (lunch time consequence) in the previous three weeks will be invited to Reward Play. Students who have had ‘Reflection Time’ in the previous three weeks will continue their learning in the classroom. This will begin in Term 2.
Sharing Our Learning - Kindergarten
In Kindergarten we have had a special first term full of wonderful learning experiences. The children have grown immensely and shown creativity and resilience to undertake new challenges as they started their learning journey here at St Joey’s.
