End of Term 2
It is hard to believe that we are now at the end of another term of school and half way through the school year! A few things to reflect on:
* Thank you to all parents for your support in various ways in our school during the term; meeting with teachers to share information about how we can best support your children together, our wonderful P&F Committee who have met to plan and implement areas for involvement in our school, our canteen helpers, parents assisting in others areas of the school, those who have visited to see the wonderful work that has taken place in learning, messages of thanks and support for the great things taking place, and above all for following guidelines and requirements of school to assist us in doing our work.
* Thank you to all staff in our school for their work to support students and for going above and beyond to provide quality learning.
* Thank you to our students for their amazing efforts to engage in learning as well as working hard to follow our school expectations.
* We ask that as you return to school in Term 3, that you continue to check in on our forms of communication (particularly our newsletter) so that we can continue to work together for the needs of all students. Importantly, to continue supporting our school expectations so that all students are safe and happy at school.
Kindergarten Enrolments 2022
On Wednesday, our first round of offers for enrolment placements were sent out to families. Please ensure that you communicate back to us acceptance of these offers to ensure a place for your child in 2022. If you are yet to have your interview, we look forward to meeting with you in Term 3.
COVID Update for Schools as of 25 June 2021
As outlined on Wednesday, NSW Health has advised of new COVID-19 restrictions for the Greater Sydney region, which includes the Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour local government areas from 4pm Wednesday, 23 June 2021, for one week. A map of where these restrictions apply is available on the NSW Government website.
School Holiday Travel to Hotspots - Students and Families:
Should you enter a known hotspot during the school holiday period or if a hotspot has been declared while you were travelling in a particular area or following your return home, students and staff will be required to adhere to requirements of the Public Health Order in place at the commencement of Term 3. Please be reminded that it is your responsibility to stay informed of COVID-19 hotspots, particularly during this school holiday period. We will communicate with you prior to the commencement of Term 3 with any changes to the current requirements or restrictions that may impact the school.
Mask Wearing:
As outlined in the Public Health Order, staff and students aged 13 and over from outside Greater Sydney, who have been in Sydney in the last 14 days, are also required to comply with the mask wearing restriction. Staff and students in school settings are exempt from the requirement to wear masks. However, individuals should be supported to wear masks if it is their preference to do so.
Lost Uniform Items
Please take the time over the holidays to check all items of school clothing. If any items have mistakenly made their way to the wrong homes, please ensure these are returned in Term 3. If you have any unwanted items of school clothing that could be useful to someone else, we invite you to send them in to school. We are planning on organising what is in our uniform room very soon and displaying these at certain times of the day in a space where parents and carers can come and purchase at a low cost, what they may need to get them through this year.
Happy Holidays
We wish all students and families a very safe and happy holiday break and look forward to seeing you all again in Term 3. Don’t forget, the first day of Term 3 for students is Tuesday 13th July. Monday 12th July will be a Staff Development Day offsite, so there will be NO child minding available.

Journey into the Faith

Assistant Principal Mission
We come to the end of another term, and what a term it has been. Our students have been blessed with so many opportunities to learn and grow. We have enjoyed:- Cross Country and Athletics carnivals, musical presentations, Space Immersion, Catholic Schools Week celebrations, Year 6 camp, Sacrament of Penance and so much more.
It has been a very busy term but one that has been so rewarding to be a part of. It is a joy and a privilege to accompany our students every day, watching them develop as unique individuals and assisting them in preparing for a world beyond our gates.
We wish you all a wonderful holiday full of laughter, happiness and health. Take care if you are traveling on our roads. We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 13th July.

Sharing Our Learning - Kindergarten
Kindergarten Sensory Walk
In Science and Technology this term, Kindergarten students have been learning about the observable properties of materials and how they can be used to make shoes. After exploring the daily life of a lady named Sabina, who has to walk four miles through the bush and over rocks and unsealed ground everyday to collect water for her family and as a show of empathy and compassion, Kindergarten decided to raise money to buy shoes for people like Sabina who are unable to afford them by holding a sensory walk for the whole school.
We raised just over $200!!!!
Kindergarten enjoyed suggesting and collecting materials for our walk and organising this fun sensory experience for their peers. We would like to thank everyone for their generous donations and support.
Information about this cause can be found in this link: https://becauseinternational.org/
What we thought…
Nakuya: "The straws kind of gave me a massage!"
Kainoa: "I like the grass, because it didn't hurt my feet".
Claire: "My favourite was the bubble wrap, it popped on my feet".
Harmony: "I liked the beads because they were soft and even lumpy!"
Conor: "The pom poms were so warm and cuddly".
Abaigael: "The fluffy stuff was nice".
Duaansh: "I like putting my feet in there!"
What We Got Up to!
We took on the huge challenge of jumping off a 15 metre pole. Some of us created bush shelters and cooked damper while others took on the additional high flying action of the Giant Swing. We climbed an obstacle course, waded through mud on Lost Island and covered ourselves in the mud. The remainder of the camp was spent exploring the rainforest and sand dunes!
Year 4 Bushfire Safety Showcase
During Term 2, Year 4 have worked hard researching and constructing bushfire safety plans. We used our knowledge from Science and Technology, Geography and persuasive techniques learnt in English to persuade our audience of the benefits of creating a bushfire safety plan. On Wednesday we shared our learning through a showcase.
This is what Year 4 had to say about their projects.
Emily: “At first I felt nervous and frustrated. After sharing my learning I felt happy and confident, and that I was able to achieve my goal.”
Sebastian: “I really enjoyed the inquiry unit and would like to do more.”
Cooper: “It was really interesting to receive feedback from my peers and parents about my project. It was cool”.
Evie: “During the unit we needed to work independently and be creative in our design. I created a poster and a bushfire safety kit.”
Well done Year 4! What a fantastic way to end the term.

Dance Eisteddfod Rehearsals
All Dance Eisteddfod groups will continue rehearsing on Thursdays and Fridays in Term 3 during class time. There will be no before school rehearsals.
Hamlet
Students in Year 5 attended the performance of ‘Hamlet’ at the Glasshouse on Wednesday.
Student reviews:
Riley: " Hamlet was a really funny play, infact probably the funniest play I have ever seen. My favourite part was when they fake vomited, I also liked when they were insulting Sir Polonius. It was really funny and I enjoyed myself".
Mikayla: "It was very funny and they all got me very interested. There were so many laughing moments".
Edvin: "It was cool because it was funny and fun to watch. It was entertaining and epic. I liked the part where they sprayed the water and sprayed toilet paper".
Imogen: "I loved how they included the crowd and asked them questions and how they got people from the crowd to join them on stage. My favourite part was when they asked me to be the Queen for one of the parts and I was speechless. They were kind and told me what to do. I loved the action and the humour. I rate it 5 stars and the best show ever".
Baxter: "It was so funny because it had nothing to do with the real thing and it was fun because they launched toilet paper everywhere and I got a lot of it. I also liked when they shot water at everyone. I got very wet".
Whole school concert at The Glasshouse
This year our whole school Creative Arts program will run in Term 3, culminating in a whole school concert at The Glasshouse. ALL students in the school will be involved in a Technical and Dress Rehearsal at the Glasshouse on 30th August and a Matinee and Evening performance on 31st August. Student participation will be through acting, singing, dance routines, Glee Club and Band.
