THANK YOU
We have been so delighted to have all of our students return to school with us this week. Seeing all of their lovely faces, visiting their classrooms to see them engaged in face to face interactions and learning with their teachers and each other has brought a smile to our faces too! Thank you again for the way in which you supported our school community during lockdown and Blended Learning. We are hopeful that we will begin next term as we are finishing this term, together and face to face. If there is anything to share with you all during the holidays, it will be emailed to you. Please continue to think of and pray for those areas of NSW who continue to be in lockdown. We wish you all a wonderful holiday break and look forward to seeing you in Term 4.We have created this video of some blended learning scenes for you to enjoy.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY TERM 4
A reminder that we will not have a Staff Development Day at the beginning of Term 4. This day has been changed to Friday 5th November. Child minding will be offered on this day. Any parents requiring care for their child/children on that day are asked to please contact the Office Aunties or email us at sjpport@lism.catholic.edu.au to book. We will need to have bookings finalised by 3:00pm Friday 29th October to facilitate staffing for the day.

Talking to Jesus
During our school prayer, the SRC shared a song with the school which spoke about talking to Jesus. During lockdown, some of us may have felt a little isolated and even a little lonely. It was great to be reminded that we are never alone, we have a friend in Jesus. We just need to keep talking to Him.

World Teachers' Day
World Teachers' Day is Tuesday 5th October and recognises the contribution of teachers to our lives. Please pray for teachers, past and present, that the fire of passion for their work continues to shape and inspire the current and future generations. We recognise the teachers who are now retired and those who have passed. May their legacy live on in the students they taught.

Sports Coordinator and Assistant Sports Coordinator
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our usual Peer Support sessions were not able to be held this week. Instead we created a virtual experience for the whole school. We created a quiz called a Kahoot for all grades to participate in. Some very talented Year 6 students also created a virtual 3D classroom in a program called CoSpaces. We achieved all this in less than a day. We were very honoured to have this privilege and experience with our school. We could tell from the noise that all the grades were enjoying themselves and had a great time yelling answers at the screen. Even Year 6 were yelling at the screen, calling out answers! Congratulations to our inaugural winners KSC!
Thank you everyone for your participation and we look forward to doing something like this again.

MEDICATIONS
Please be mindful of informing the school of any diagnosis or change in medical condition for your child so that school plans and records are current and accurate. This is especially important for those students with Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Diabetes, and other medical illnesses.
CONTACT DETAILS
Please also let the school know if any contact details including phone numbers, address and emergency contacts have changed for your child. Parish Administration will also need to know a change of address.
Amazing Results!!!
Over the last five weeks our Year 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to participate in the NCSS Challenge demonstrating tremendous skill and perseverance to achieve outstanding results.
What is the NCSS Challenge?
The NCSS Challenge is a Programming competition open to all school students and teachers. The Grok Learning team have been running coding competitions like the challenge for over 12 years.
Why Learn to code?
Programming (also known as coding) is how sites like Facebook and apps like Instagram are made. Knowing how to program is like having a computer superpower.
Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates have all said that students should learn how to code. It's a skill that not only teaches you how to work with computers, but also teaches you how to think about solving problems with systems.
