The Principal's Report
Welcome Back
We warmly welcome back all families to school this term. While conditions sadly have meant that families are not currently able to be in school as they were in Term 2, we look forward to working with you in any possible way we can this term. There are many things to look forward to that we can still do under COVID-19 conditions, and we will continue to communicate these with you.
COVID Update for Schools as of 15th July 2021
Thank you for your support in the latest update of COVID guidelines that came to you via email this week. We will continue to update you on any changes to this, but currently, most things will remain consistent until the 30th July in accordance with NSW rules from the Premier that relate to the situation in Greater Sydney. This week I attended a Zoom meeting with the CSO, who informed us that we have no plan to move to Blended Learning (students and teachers working from home) as in 2020 unless absolutely necessary. While we will prepare a plan in the coming weeks at a school and Diocese level that makes us ready if conditions change quickly, we are not projecting this to be the case.
Our main focus currently is following all guidelines so that we have the best chance of keeping our community healthy and safe so that we can continue to offer our families the best care and learning that we do at all times.
Please make contact directly with teachers if you require a phone call relating to learning as we are not able to hold our parent and teacher interviews as planned in Weeks 2 and 3 this term. This was outlined in the note you received, as well as other areas needing attention during this changing situation.
Farewell
Mrs Ronnie Hawkins has been a valued member of our staff for over 30 years and a teacher for 49 and a half years! Ronnie has now retired from teaching and we thank her for her extraordinatry contributions to St Joseph's. Read all about her fabulous farewell in our Creative Corner.
Looking forward
We look forward to a wonderful term ahead with all in our community.
Some of the things we are looking forward to this term include:
- The Glasshouse Performance - we are in practice mode currently and hoping this will go ahead later in the term, but will know more as time moves on.
- Book Week - you will receive a note in the coming weeks outlining how we plan to celebrate this wonderful focus at school.
- Father’s Day - we will communicate with you as we get closer how we are able to recognise all of the special male role models in our lives.
