Leader's Message
LOCKDOWN SUPPORT - BLENDED LEARNING
Hi again to all of our families this week. As we know, we are still working in the same way for the next week, with Blended Learning mostly from home. There is not too much to update for this, as most families are working from Google Classrooms and Seesaw platforms to access their learning. As time has progressed, we have reduced the paper copies that are collected on Mondays, as there is enough work on the online platforms and the paper copies are there for families who don’t have the capacity to access these with digital limitations. When teachers are checking in, they are assisting with the work and letting our leaders know the families requiring the physical copies. There will not be copies available for every family in the pickup windows of time on Monday 6th September, just for those who teachers have highlighted. If you are having any concerns with what you can do from home, please let your grade teachers know. We are hopeful to receive good news about lockdown next week, but it is a wait and see scenario. As soon as we have anything to share, we will let you know.
FATHER’S DAY
We would like to wish all of our dads, grandads and all other father figures in the lives of our students and families a very happy day on Sunday. We know that the celebrations are not likely to be as extraordinary as usual, but we hope there is time in lockdown to be together and celebrate what is great about all of you who are such important parts of the lives of our children. I pray that each of you feel loved and supported, not just on Sunday, but every day!
GOOD NEWS STORIES
It was my great pleasure to be on the Year 1 first ever check in zoom this week! I have not made it onto other classes yet, but that is my goal for next week. I loved seeing all the happy faces who have not been able to see and hear each other for some time. I really hope that enabling this has been a favourite part of the week for you as it was for me. I would like to commend all of our staff for the way in which they have supported families and children with the check ins. In particular, our Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 staff who were quickly thrown into this virtual world. Please remember to thank them for their efforts to engage with students and families, as they work hard to keep us connected until we welcome you back.
Mary MacKillop Award
During Week 5, we celebrated the Feast day of Saint Mary MacKillop. Our wonderful SRC Team in Year 6 ran a Mary Mackillop award, taking nominations from each class to award one student from Infant (K-2) and Primary (3-6) for demonstrating actions and values of Mary MacKillop. We congratulate Indii Love (2T) and Isabella Hawkins (5L) for their kindness, compassion and selflessness.
