Leader's Message

Our Community

It has been wonderful to see our school community enjoy some special experiences this term, which have lifted our spirits and given us things to look forward to. The most recent of these are: Year 3 Excursion around the historic places in Port Macquarie, Year 2 Excursion to Timbertown, Indigenous Afternoon Tea Gathering, First Holy Communion Reflection Day and very soon, our Athletics Carnival. You will realise that none of these things happen without the commitment of staff and parents who want our students and families to experience wonderful opportunities. We look forward to more fun in Term 3! Look out in our newsletter, on our website and facebook page for some great photos and reflections from the children about their experiences.

St Agnes’ Parish Creative Arts Nest

An initiative that has come out of the combined schools of St Agnes’ Parish, is the Creative Arts Nest. This is a growing program of creative opportunities for students in our Parish schools. The first two of these are the A4Art Prize and the musical “Aladdin”. We are proud of all of our students, but would like to acknowledge students who are finalists in the Art Prize: Remy, Cleo, Alexia, Nakuya, Alexander, Jay, Ayla, Kooper, Marco, Sunny, Marlee, Peyton and Abbey. We look forward to hearing how they went in the voting which took place last night at Newman College.

We also have a number of students who have been selected in roles for Aladdin Jr, for which rehearsals have started and will continue towards the show opening. Huge congratulations to Lucinda as Genie, Liam as the Spooky Voice, Amelie as Beggar 3 and Matilda as the Arabian Nights Soloist.

Celebrating Our Faith

First Holy Communion Reflection Day

Our Year 4 and 5 students attended their reflection day here at school on Tuesday. We enjoyed preparing with them and supporting our friends making their Sacrament of First Holy Communion.

“I learned that Jesus died for us to save us. The Last Supper is like the Holy Communion. It was fun and I had a great time”

Sunny - Year 4

Today’s reflection of the Eucharist and parts of the mass showed me that the Last Supper is a large part of the life of Jesus and how our mass works today. In one of our activities we were shown what we do at the altar when receiving the Eucharist. Mrs Blundell showed us the importance of different items on the altar, some of them were more important than others. In our next activity we looked at different photos of the Last Supper and talked about the differentiating moods between the selection of pictures. After, we got to taste the un-blessed bread which would become the body of Christ at Mass. Our final activity was reading through the mass book and deciphering the cards that were given to us. To finish off the day we sang some songs and blessed the candidates that will receive Christ.

This makes me reflect on my life and how I can live like Jesus and his Disciples and receive the Eucharist with pride, honour and respect because the church is God's house and we must be filled with its love and glory. I have reflected on recent problems and have continued to live in God's name.

I am looking forward to receiving my first communion and becoming closer to Jesus and God. I am looking forward to taking part in lots of more sacraments.

Lillian and Emmett - Year 5
