Leader's Message
Father’s Day Breakfast
What a wonderful way to start our Friday this morning. It was lovely to see so many Dads and special male figures enjoying their egg and bacon roll together with their children. I would like to thank Year 6 for the beautifully prepared Prayer Service to acknowledge all our wonderful Dads and special male figures in our lives and our Year 6 Media Team for this delightful video they created for our service. Also a very big thank you to our volunteers who worked tirelessly very early this morning to make almost 300 breakfast rolls. We wish all our Dads a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday.
Father’s Day Blessing
God, we ask your blessing on all those here, those in our hearts,
those who guide us and whom you have entrusted
the role of father and mentor.
May your Holy Spirit constantly inspire them with justice and mercy, wisdom and strength, patience and self-giving love.
May they receive your grace abundantly, and may they come to experience you through the care and love they give to us.
Amen
School Uniform - Socks and Shoes
Whilst we understand that this year we are transitioning into our new uniforms we have noticed a number of students not wearing the correct school socks and/or polishable black school shoes when it is not their sports day.
During this period of transition students are able to wear the old school socks or purchase the new ones from the uniform shop. Unfortunately there has been an increasing number of students wearing black socks or a variety of sports socks which are not our uniform. Could I please ask you to encourage your child each morning to wear the correct uniform allocated socks.
Polishable black school shoes have always been a component of our school uniform. Whilst we understand children's feet grow rapidly throughout the term, we encourage you to ensure you are purchasing the correct shoes for your child to wear with their school uniform. When we are visiting areas in our community and have visitors to school we do want to ensure we are representing St Joseph’s Primary School and St Agnes’ Parish in the very way we can. Our uniform is one way our community can recognise who we are.
We appreciate your support in ensuring your child is dressed appropriately each and every day. If your child has to wear the incorrect uniform for a particular reason, a note is required from their parent. If you have any questions or need further information about our school uniform please refer to the Parent Information Handbook (page 20), which is accessible on our website in the ‘About Us’ tab.
NAPLAN
This week we received our 2022 NAPLAN results for Year 3 and Year 5. Please look out for your child’s envelope which will be sent home next week. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher. Please note that NAPLAN Assessment month for 2023 will be March.
Animals on site
Just a reminder that we cannot have animals onsite due to safety concerns. Could you please avoid bringing your dogs to school pick up and drop off as this makes it difficult for some students and families.
Bravehearts Kinder to Year 2 ‘Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show’ - Child Protection
Next week we will acknowledge Child Protection week with students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 attending ‘Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show’ here at school. The purpose of 'Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure Show' is to teach children personal safety in an age appropriate, non-confrontational, fun and engaging fashion. 'Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure' education program aims to continue communicating essential personal safety messages and works tirelessly to reach children across Australia.

Sacrament of Confirmation
What a joy it was to share our Confirmation workshop with our special candidates and their families this week. We welcomed Fr Roland and Vanessa Denham our Pastoral and Liturgical Ministries Coordinator from St Agnes’ Parish to lead our Candidates in some special learning activities in our school library in preparation for their Confirmation. St Joseph’s will be hosting the Sacrament of Confirmation on Tuesday 13th September at St Agnes’ Church.
Learning Together
Google Workspaces Sessions
On Thursday, we were fortunate to have Juliette Bentley, an Education Innovation Specialist from PSG Innovation & Growth Practices, visit our school to work with our staff and students to explore tools to elevate the education of our students.
“Technology alone will not improve education, but it can be a powerful part of the solution.” Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google
Google Workspaces helps staff collaborate easily, streamline instruction, and keep the learning environment secure.
Juliette spent the morning working with the Year 2 teachers and then collaboratively taught the students how to use Jamboard. She then repeated the same process during the middle session in Year 3, however, they focused on using Google Sites to create an e-folio.
It was a day of learning for both our staff and students.
