Farewell and Celebrations

Thank you

We wish to thank all of our wonderful community members who joined us at our end of year celebrations this week. It was wonderful to all be together in the church for the first time this year for our Mass of Thanksgiving.

At our End of Year Assembly, we were able to thank, farewell and congratulate some wonderful members of our school community.

Student_Morning_Messages_SLIDES.jpgStar of the Year Award

Star_of_Year_Award.png

This is the second year we have presented the Mrs Saunders Star of the Year award. Mrs Rosemary Saunders taught at St Joseph’s for over 40 years. She was known for her smile, her positivity, compassion, friendliness and absolute consistency as a teacher, friend and person. Each week Mrs Saunders awarded a Star of the Week, where every child in the class would write a positive affirmation about that child and the child would receive a certificate laminated with affirmations from classmates.

The Star of the Year was voted upon by the students and adults in each class to nominate a classmate who has shown consistent positivity, a smile and friendliness throughout the year. The recipient received a medal, sprig of rosemary, and a certificate of affirmations at our End of Year Assembly today. It was wonderful to have Ro’s daughter Emma here to present the recipients with their awards.

Congratulations to all our student recipients.

Drumming Scholarship

Bronte.jfif

We wish to congratulate Bronte Gawith, who is the first ever recipient of the Lindy Morrison Drum Scholarship. This award was the idea of Mr Mark Spence, who is the amazing drum teacher for the award winning St Agnes’ Parish drumline and for our own students at St Joseph’s. The award has been commenced to present to one female drummer from any primary or secondary school in the Parish. Lindy Morrison was the drummer for the Go-Betweens and continues to play and tour around Australia, so is the perfect model for an award aimed at increasing female representation in drums and percussion. Well done Bronte!

Farewell

Today at our End of Year Assembly, we farewelled staff who will be leaving us at the end of 2022.

It is with much sadness yet delight in their future pursuits, that we farewell Mrs Tess Koning, Mr Caleb Smith, Miss Melissa Buckland and Mrs Eloise Wilson.

We say thank you and see you soon to Miss Lauren Ussher and Miss Alyssa Mannion.

These valued members of our community will be missed and we wish them every happiness and success in their future. We hope you will take a little bit of St Joseph’s in your hearts, wherever you go.
