St Joseph's Feast Day Celebration - A Day of Community and Compassion

Last Thursday 20th March, our Joey’s community came together to celebrate St Joseph’s Feast Day, a day filled with faith, fun, and fundraising. While St Joseph’s Feast Day officially falls on 19th March, we waited until Thursday when our Year 6 students returned from camp to celebrate as a whole school community.

To honour St Joseph, our Patron Saint, students engaged in learning about his life and his significance. But the celebration didn’t stop there! We also united to support those in need through Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion and the Walk for Water Challenge. This year, we focused on raising awareness and funds to help communities in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific who face the daily challenge of walking long distances to collect clean water.

As part of the challenge, students brought buckets to school, and participated in a unique walk to show solidarity with those who must carry water every day to access clean water for their families. Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 walked a lap of the oval, while students in Years 3-6 took on a Cross Country lap – all while carrying their buckets of water. Our dedicated staff took on the challenge too, committing to carry two buckets throughout the day, never putting them down!

In the spirit of community, we also invited students to wear casual clothes for a gold coin donation. The money raised will go to support people who are working to overcome poverty and improve their access to clean water. At this point we have raised over $800 for Caritas and we are still fundraising.

The day was a true reflection of our school’s commitment to building a strong, supportive community. By participating in the Walk for Water Challenge, we not only learned about St Joseph’s legacy but also helped raise awareness and funds for those less fortunate than us.

Thank you to all the students, staff, and parents for making this event such a memorable and impactful celebration of St Joseph's Feast Day! Together, we made a difference.

Upcoming Partners In Learning Survey

Next term we will be inviting students, teachers and parents to, once again, provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.

We will invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey in the coming weeks. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Joseph’s Primary School. Thank you for completing the survey when it is shared with you during Term 2.

Regular attendance fosters strong relationships between students and teaching staff, building trust and understanding. Consistent interaction enables staff to better support students' needs, helping them feel valued and motivated. This sense of connection enhances students' belonging, driving both academic success and personal growth.
