The Principal's Report
PROJECT NEST
Thank you so very much for those parents, carers and others in our community who have sent in responses or visited our Project Nest. We have one more week of collecting information that can really help us build our future thinking for Joey’s. We would love your ideas, and invite you to join us in the Project Nest next week either Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning or during the P&F Disco on Thursday. Any stories or memories of what you have experienced in our school with your children would be welcomed in helping us understand more deeply what matters to you. We will have members of the Design Team available to talk to and provide support in the school Hall (not the MPA) on the following dates.
Tuesday 5th November - 3:00pm onwards
Wednesday 6th November - 8:30am onwards
Thursday 7th November - 5:00pm onwards (during disco) - Light refreshments will be provided.
DONATIONS FOR PARISH HAMPERS
We wish to thank our community for the generous donations to our Parish Hamper Appeal. There are many families in our school and Parish community who are doing it extra tough and we appreciate being able to contribute in this act of service to those who need our help. These will be dropped off to the Parish early next week, so if you were not able to bring items in today, we would welcome any more on Tuesday.
P&F EVENTS
Please look out for the P&F invitations to our exciting events coming up, we would love to see you there!
GRANDPARENTS DAY AND BOOK WEEK PARADE
Thank you to all of the Grandparents, parents and carers who came along last Friday to celebrate with us. What a great day we had spending time with you all and giving you a window into life at school. It was so lovely to watch the interactions across the morning in each classroom and out in the playground.
CLASS PLACEMENTS FOR 2020 SCHOOL YEAR
Later this term, teacher teams in each grade will begin to ‘split’ their classes to create two new class groups for 2020. This is an important and complex process as teachers aim to create two ‘even’ groups. Children will be asked to complete a sociogram to identify a few friends they believe they work well with, and teachers ensure that every child is placed with at least one of these friends. Considerations include, but are not limited to, assessment data, peer dynamics, learning and behavioural needs and the ratio of boys and girls.
If you believe that teachers need to consider a specific factor for your child to be a successful learner, please submit a written response to the Principal by the end of Week 3 (Friday, 1st November). You can email to: sjpport@lism.catholic.edu.au
Please understand that requests from previous years will not be referred to and only written responses received by 1st November will be considered.
