The Principal's Report
YEAR 6 LEADERSHIP 2020
On Monday morning we had the great pleasure of hearing from the nominated candidates from Year 5 for the positions of Year 6 School Leaders for 2020. At St Joseph’s, we have a boy and girl leader each term for the year and experience the great pleasure of getting to know these students well and see them grow in their leadership. It was a delight to listen to and see the presentations this year, with such variety in the delivery and content of their speeches. We know that all students in Year 5 put in a great deal of work to complete their English task of writing a speech, even if they chose not to nominate for the positions. Those who presented did a wonderful job of convincing us that they were the best people for the job and it was incredibly difficult to choose who would be successful in this part. We congratulate all candidates who showed courage to stand up in front of their peers to deliver their speeches and know that we have wonderful leadership to take our school through 2020. We look forward to hearing from other students in the coming weeks in the area of sport, as well as guiding students into the other leadership groups that they can participate in for next year.
KINDERGARTEN 2020
It has been another exciting week, welcoming back our new Kindergarten students for 2020 to school for their second transition visit. On Tuesday the children were able to work with Mrs McKinnon and Mrs Stapleton and certainly appeared to have had a wonderful time. We can’t wait to share learning with them in 2020!
GLEE CLUB CONCERT
It was a delight to accompany our Glee Club to Panthers on Tuesday as they performed in the Christmas Charity Concert to raise money for Rotary Lodge. Mrs Toole and Mrs Hawkins have spent the year working with our dedicated group of students to develop their singing and stage presence to be able to engage the audience so well in their performance. It was wonderful to see so many parents and carers there as well as receive the most positive feedback from others in the community. Our students should be very proud, as we are of them, and we look forward to planning more special opportunities for them to shine in 2020. Our four soloists were very brave in leading one of the special songs that was chosen - Savannah Beard, Peyton Berry, Sophie Pynaert and Matilda Beresford. Thank you particularly to Mrs Toole and Mrs Hawkins for their commitment to this group and going above and beyond to provide this and many other opportunities.
P&F
Please help us end the year on a high note by coming along if you can to the P&F social night, AGM and Movie Night. There is plenty of time still to be part of the planning for 2020 and to enjoy the end of a great 2019. Please see P&F Events article in this newsletter for the details of both nights.
