The Principal's Report
IMPORTANT UPDATED GUIDELINES REGARDING COVID-19
On Friday we received from the Catholic Schools Office Lismore two pieces of information which we shared with our community via email. The first is a letter outlining the current situation and recommendations around the Coronavirus in relation to our Catholic Schools (see link below).
The second update below was received from our Director, also for your information. If you are affected by this information and require further information, please let us know.
"Due to the current COVID-19 situation, additional precautions are now being implemented for the remainder of Term 1. All interschool and interdiocesan sport is not permitted for the remainder of Term 1. Parent and spectator attendance at any sporting activity is to be discouraged. A decision regarding participation in interschool and interdiocesan sport activities will be made later in Term 1 and communicated to families."
We thank you for your support as we work with the Catholic Schools Office and St Agnes' Parish to ensure we follow the latest advice and updates.
GOOD NEWS STORIES
On Sunday night, 8th March, St Joseph’s hosted the Family Mass at St Agnes' Church. We were proud of all students and staff who were involved in the Mass, and who provided supper for everyone afterwards. I would like to acknowledge particularly our Faith Choir for their wonderful support in leading the singing reverently and Zoe Little from Year 6 who sang the Responsorial Psalm from the lectern, no easy feat. Well done Zoe, this was such a special part of the Mass and you sang with grace and poise.
LEUKAEMIA FOUNDATION - WORLD'S GREATEST SHAVE
Last Friday, Grace Chuwen from Year 6 participated in the World’s Greatest Shave at school. This was a generous gesture to raise money and awareness for Blood Cancer. What an amazing young lady Grace is for bravely having her hair cut in front of our school. We are proud of Grace and thank those who came to be part of this event in support. It is not too late to donate - you can click below and the link will take you to Grace’s page, or visit our office where there is a box to place money into.
NEW FENCE
If you have visited our school recently you will have noticed the new fence in front of our administration entrance. For some time we have been concerned about the safety of our students and younger children who come to our school, being close to a carpark and road. Many times, children quickly move out of the office into the space outside and as parents we know how young children don’t have the sense of safety we do. The gate will not be locked, just closed to ensure that only adults (and taller children) are able to open it.
