Colour Run and Glasshouse Arts Showcase
What an amazing fortnight at Joey’s showcasing the Creative and Performing Arts and celebrating community at our annual Father’s Day Breakfast and Colour Run.
Our annual Whole School Colour Run, held on Friday 30th August was a vibrant success! Students, teachers, and parents united for a fun-filled morning of colour, creating a spectacular display of rainbow hues. The event was not only a joyful experience but a celebration of wonderful lads and Dads. A big thank you to our PCG for all your preparation and organisation and to everyone who participated and contributed to the colorful fun!
Thank you to Troy Hardy and Woolworths for your support of our wonderful bacon and egg breakfast.
Once again this year our students wowed us with their talents at our “Elements” Creative and Performing Arts Showcase at the Glasshouse. The showcase featured a remarkable display of student talent, from dramatic performances and dance routines to impressive visual art exhibits. It was an inspiring evening that highlighted the incredible creativity and hard work of our students, teachers and community. We were delighted to see so many families come out to support and celebrate the arts with us.
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported these events. Your enthusiasm and involvement made both the Colour Run and the Glasshouse Showcase truly memorable. We look forward to many more opportunities to come together as a community in the future

Supporting Mental Health Wellbeing of Children and Young People
Research into how to best support children and young people with mental health challenges is critical to ensuring that as a society we have evidence-based, best practice support strategies for our young people. Southern Cross University is offering parents of children aged 10-13 with mental health needs an opportunity to access a high quality online education program as part of a research project. Further information is available in the below flyer for those parents/carers who would like to learn more or apply to be a part of this research project.
Entering Attendance Notes in Compass
Parents are no longer able to submit a partial absence in Compass for when a child is arriving late to school or will be collected early.
All attendance notes entered can only be for a full day. All partial attendances will be recorded at the time of signing your child in or out of school at the front office.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the Office Aunties.
Attending School Regularly Helps Children
Being at school regularly helps children develop positive friendships
School attendance is not only about academic growth but also social and emotional development. Here are several ways in which consistent attendance contributes to the formation of meaningful and supportive peer relationships:
- Shared Experiences. Regular attendance allows children to share
common experiences with their peers. Being present in class provides opportunities for shared learning, activities, and interactions, fostering a sense of camaraderie. - Consistent Social Interaction. Attending school every day provides consistent opportunities for social interaction with classmates. Regular face-to-face interactions contribute to the development of communication skills, empathy, and a sense of belonging.
- Building Trust and Reliability. Being present on a regular basis helps children build trust and reliability within their peer group. Dependable attendance creates a sense of predictability, and peers can rely on each other for mutual support and collaboration.
Year 3 and 4 Netball Gala Day
Congratulations to our amazing Year 3 and 4 students who recently participated in the Netball Gala Day! Our teams showed great sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination throughout the day, representing our school with pride. Whether they were passing, shooting, or cheering on their teammates, each student gave their best effort and had a fantastic time. We are incredibly proud of their positive attitude and enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing their skills continue to grow! Well done, Year 3 and 4!
Well done Levi!
Congratulations to Levi Widdison on his impressive achievements in Brazilian jiu-jitsu!
In August, Levi won a gold medal in his very first competition.
Last week, he competed in Byron Bay, where he earned a silver medal while facing a higher belt.
We are incredibly proud of Levi and his dedication to his sport.
Port Macquarie Speech and Drama Eisteddfod 2024
Our students performed so well and their results were very rewarding. Three of our students entered the Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 Championships. This required them to perform in three sections: Dramatic Characterisation, Championship Poem and Humorous Poem. Mikayla won first place, Arlo second and Sophie won the prestigious Versatility Award!
In the Year 3 and 4 Championship, Ashton won 2nd place and Arianna 4th.
These clever students were awarded 4th: Ashton, Kainoa, Sophie, Arlo, Maggie, Arianna and Jack.
Highly Commended awards were given to Leo, Anika, Sianna, Isobel, Millie, Alivia, Emilia, Juliet, Scarlett, Lily, Maggie, Dylan, Mikayla, Olivia and Arianna
I’m so proud of all our students and commend them for their skill, technique, talent and tenacity. Most of all I was so impressed with their manners, generosity of spirit and joy when congratulating others.
