Catholic Schools Week 2025
That's a wrap for Catholic Schools Week and what a wonderful week we've had celebrating at St Joseph’s Primary. The week was filled with faith, community spirit, and joy! At Joey’s we are so proud of our wonderful school community.
We kicked things off with a Wellbeing Through Music Concert, bringing smiles and a sense of fun to our school community through the power of music by ARIA award winner CJ Shaw.
Our students were treated to a special visit from the DLCS Jubilee Boat, an exciting and unique experience that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. During our Catholic Schools Week liturgy we made promises to be Pilgrims of Hope in our Jubilee year and sent them in the Jubilee boat as a symbol of our commitment to making our world a better place.
With hearts full of compassion, we held a Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal Fundraiser, rallying together to support those in need during the colder months.
Our Year 3 students led a beautiful Pray and Play session, combining reflection and play in a way that showcased their growing faith and sense of community.
We truly love our school and are proud of the values we live out each day.

NAIDOC Week
On Friday of Week 9 we kicked off our opening NAIDOC celebration with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, performed by Uncle Bill O’Brien and accompanied by Josh Wright.
This week our students came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025 through a variety of meaningful activities that explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture while focusing on this year's theme; The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy.
The week included fun games like ‘tug of war’ and ‘over under’, promoting the themes Strength and Legacy. Students completed an information hunt that not only helped deepen their understanding of Indigenous history, but also encompassed the theme of vision. They also enjoyed reading Dreaming stories with their buddies, fostering storytelling and cultural appreciation. Learning about bush tucker introduced students to traditional Indigenous foods, while they also got to taste some lemon myrtle muffins. Creative expression was encouraged through painting coasters. These coasters were provided by the beautiful team at Many Rivers. Additionally, students participated in Gathang language learning, helping to preserve and promote the local Birpai language. The week was a vibrant celebration of culture, learning, and community spirit.

Save the Date - Father's Day Breakfast, Liturgy and Colour Run
Joey’s is very excited to be holding our Colour Run again this year together with our Father’s Day celebrations on Friday 5th September. The focus of the organising committee is participation and fun, to celebrate our dads and lads. It would be wonderful if everyone could join us and be a part of this great community event so please save the date. More information will be shared with you via Compass in the coming weeks.
We always appreciate volunteers to help make our events a success. If you have any time available in the next few weeks on Friday before assembly, to help bag colour or are available on the day please let us know by filling in the online form via this link -

Joey's Parent Community Group (PCG) Minutes and Agenda
You're Invited!
Join us for our next PCG meeting on Wednesday, 30th July from 5:00 – 6:00pm here at Joey's.
We’ve attached the minutes from our last meeting along with the upcoming agenda - feel free to have a look!
We’d love to see you there!
Uniform Reminder – Building Pride, Belonging and Equity
As we continue through the winter term, it’s a timely reminder about the importance of wearing the correct school uniform. Our uniform is more than just clothing, it represents our shared identity, fosters a strong sense of belonging, and promotes pride in the Joey's community.
Wearing the uniform correctly also supports equity, ensuring that all students are treated equally and feel included, regardless of background. When everyone wears the same, we remove distractions and create a focused, united learning environment.
Please remember that the following warmer items are part of our Winter uniform:
- Navy jumper
- Navy tracksuit pants with the St Agnes’ Parish logo
- Navy soft-shell jacket with green side panels, white piping, and individual school logo
We thank all families for supporting our uniform expectations and for helping build a school culture that values respect, unity and pride.
Borrowed Uniforms
If your child has brorrowed school uniform items from us, we kindly ask that you return them to the Office Aunties at your earliest convenience. Additionally, if any families have unused school uniforms, especially jumpers and jackets, that they are willing to donate, we would greatly appreciate receiving them, particularly during these colder Winter months.
Labelling Uniforms
Please remember to label all school uniforms items with your child's name. This helps prevent them from ending up in lost property and ensures they can be returned if misplaced. Thank you for your co-operation!
Catholic Network Australia (CNA) has funded a Parent Webinar in collaboration with the Cyber Safety Project. The session will focus on parents' need to know about deep fakes, AI Companions, and online truth. The live stream has a capacity of 1,000 live participants; however, please register as CNA will handle beyond this limit for on-demand access to the webinar for 21 days post-session.
Just a friendly reminder that the Whole School Athletics Carnival will take place on Wednesday 23rd July (Week 1, Term 3) at St Joseph's Regional College.
Refer to the Compass Event for details of the day and timetable.
Please ensure students come prepared for a full day of events!
AFL Paul Kelly Cup Regional Finals
Students from Year 5 and 6 braved the wet weather on Tuesday 1st July, travelling to Coffs Harbour to represent St Joseph’s at the Regional Finals of the AFL Paul Kelly Cup.
Our boys team, with little AFL experience, showed great courage and sportsmanship throughout the day, competing with enthusiasm and determination.
A huge congratulations to our girls team, who made it all the way to the grand final! They eventually went down 4-1 to St Augustine’s, but not without showing incredible grit, teamwork, and perseverance right to the final siren.
We are so proud of all students for representing our school with such pride and spirit.

Congratulations Jed!
Last Monday, Jed Byrne travelled to Forbes to compete in the Polding Trials for Rugby. Jed showed outstanding spirit and talent throughout the day, playing with determination and skill against strong competition from across the region.
We are very proud to announce that Jed was successful in making the Polding Team and will now represent our Diocese at the upcoming NSW PSSA State Championships.
Congratulations, Jed, and best of luck at the State Champs!
Congratulations to Scarlett Hamilton (4 White) who achieved outstanding results at her recent gymnastics competition, earning 1st place on Vault, Floor and Beam, 2nd place on Bars, and taking home the overall gold medal for her combined score!
